Factory fire safety directly affects many factors, from employee safety to production continuity. A properly planned fire detection system helps identify a possible fire early and issue timely warnings.

Electrical infrastructure, machinery, production lines and technical systems operate together in industrial facilities. Fire safety is therefore integral to the facility’s overall safety approach. Installing detection systems according to the design is important for correct equipment positioning, cabling and compatibility between components.

At Canel Elektrik İnşaat, establishing fire detection infrastructure is an important area within our industrial electrical applications, according to customer requirements and project scope.

From project scope to installation: establishing fire detection infrastructure

A fire detection system involves more than installing detectors. All components, from cabling to control equipment, must be installed according to project requirements for reliable operation.

Where requested by the customer, installation includes pulling fire detection cables, fitting field equipment, making connections and carrying out the necessary checks.

Principal activities include:

  • Fire detection cabling: Establishing cable infrastructure for detectors, manual call points, sounders and control equipment.
  • Detector installation: Positioning appropriate detection equipment at design-specified locations.
  • Sounders and manual call points: Installing equipment that provides warnings and allows users to raise an alarm manually.
  • Fire alarm control panel: Installing and connecting the panel used to monitor components and manage alarms.
  • Power supplies and modules: Installing power supplies and system modules specified in the project.
  • Electrical supply: Meeting the system’s supply requirements within the project scope and making the necessary connection from the low-voltage panel.
  • Connection checks and tests: Checking cabling, equipment connections and installation integrity.

Each stage helps establish correct installation and prepares the system for subsequent checks and commissioning.

Why is equipment installation alone insufficient?

Reliability depends on suitable connections and the system as a whole, as well as correct installation of individual components.

Incorrect or incomplete cabling, unsuitable equipment locations and supply connection issues can affect expected operation. Following the design, checking connections and performing the necessary tests are therefore important during installation.

Detector selection and placement should reflect environmental characteristics, production conditions and applicable design criteria. Dust, temperature, humidity and other conditions arising from production may influence the choice of detection technology.

Correct execution of the electrical contractor’s scope creates the technical infrastructure needed to evaluate the fire detection system as a whole.

Testing, inspection and commissioning

After installation, cabling and connections are checked and the required tests within the installation scope are performed. This helps assess whether field equipment and connections have been prepared according to the project.

Final commissioning and verification of system functions are carried out by the relevant specialist company according to project responsibilities. Electrical installation and system commissioning are complementary stages.

This distinction is particularly important for coordinated work between specialist disciplines in industrial facilities.

Fire safety is also part of production continuity

Factory fire safety extends beyond protecting physical assets. Employee safety, safeguarding production and reducing the consequences of an incident are also critical.

Project-compliant detection infrastructure should be considered alongside regular maintenance, appropriate testing and correct operating procedures. A detection system does not itself extinguish a fire or eliminate every risk; it provides an important safety layer for identifying a fire and initiating response procedures.

At Canel Elektrik İnşaat, we emphasise correct system installation and coordination with relevant disciplines in industrial electrical infrastructure and customer-requested applications.

A safe industrial working environment depends on correctly designed and implemented safety infrastructure, alongside continued production.
