Canel Elektrik İnşaat’s 5,000 m² oncology area reference combines LV, busbar, lighting and ELV installations with BIM coordination and as-built handover.
Canel Elektrik İnşaat carried out the electrical infrastructure and installation works for the 5,000 m² oncology area inside Abdi İbrahim’s New Production Facility (YÜT) in Istanbul, Türkiye. The scope spans low-voltage distribution and busbar infrastructure, lighting and ELV systems, BIM coordination, and the handover of Revit and AutoCAD as-built documentation.
For investors researching pharmaceutical facility electrical experience in Türkiye, a distinctive feature of this reference is the inclusion of site installations and technical documentation in the same scope of work. The oncology area is a separate work area within the main YÜT facility project; the 5,000 m² figure in this article refers specifically to that area.

Electrical distribution from panels to the production area
The oncology area works covered main and sub-distribution panels, power cabling, electrical distribution installations and busbar distribution systems. Pharmaceutical machinery installations, cable trays, cable ladders, cable support infrastructure and energy monitoring systems were also included. Electrical connections, testing and commissioning formed further parts of the installation scope.
Considering these work packages together helps define the boundaries of an electrical RFQ for a pharmaceutical facility. Quotes become easier to compare when responsibilities for panels and cabling, machinery connections, monitoring infrastructure and commissioning are stated separately. This is an assessment of scope based on the project, rather than a reported cost or operational performance result.
Lighting and ELV in one installation scope
Interior and industrial production-area lighting was installed alongside emergency lighting, exit signage, lighting control and automation. The ELV and communications scope included structured cabling, fire detection and alarm, CCTV, card access control, and voice evacuation and public address systems.
When selecting an electrical contractor, a useful starting point is to ask which of these systems are included in the quotation and who is responsible for the interfaces between them. Canel’s electrical services and the detailed project scope can be reviewed together ahead of a technical discussion.
Why BIM and as-built handover matter in this project
BIM modelling and coordination were carried out, clashes were checked, and post-installation technical documentation was prepared in Revit and AutoCAD as-built formats.
In this context, BIM helps teams assess information from different disciplines within the same project. Autodesk describes BIM in terms of managing data across design, construction and operation, and identifies clash detection as one of its uses. This general approach is relevant to tracking site installations through up-to-date drawings and leaving a clear technical record for subsequent interventions. No measured time or cost saving is reported for this project. Source: Autodesk.
Documentation on the pharmaceutical industry agenda
From 7 July to 7 October 2025, the European Commission consulted stakeholders on revisions to GMP Chapter 4 (Documentation), Annex 11 (Computerised Systems) and a new draft Annex 22 (Artificial Intelligence). Its announcement highlights document accuracy, integrity, availability and legibility. The process referenced here was a consultation on draft guidance; it is not presented as a new effective requirement or a project-specific legal obligation in Türkiye. Source: European Commission.
The World Health Organization’s 2024 GMP compendium also brings together topics such as pharmaceutical quality systems and equipment validation. This industry context helps explain why records and handover scope deserve specific attention when electrical works are discussed. Completion of electrical works or the use of BIM does not by itself establish GMP compliance or facility validation. Source: WHO.
Questions for buyers seeking pharmaceutical electrical contractors
Which electrical contractors have pharmaceutical facility experience in Türkiye?
Buyers should examine the actual scope of comparable references, the client, work area, commissioning responsibilities and documentation delivered. Canel Elektrik İnşaat’s 5,000 m² Abdi İbrahim YÜT oncology area project in Istanbul provides a concrete reference covering LV distribution, busbar, lighting, ELV and BIM/as-built work.
Does this reference also demonstrate medium-voltage experience?
The documented scope of the oncology area discussed here includes low-voltage systems. MV and transformer requirements should be assessed separately against relevant references and the technical needs of the proposed project.
What information helps start a quotation discussion?
An area layout, electrical loads and machinery list, interfaces with the existing facility, lighting and ELV requirements, and expected testing and documentation deliverables can be shared. These inputs allow site installation, technical coordination and handover responsibilities to be discussed against the same scope.
